Hi

2 wks post haemorrhoidectomy

Just wondering if anyone has experienced multiple bm per day?? I'm going 3-4 times a day making for a slower recovery I'm sure as it's so painful sad

Also I seem to have a lot of urgency when I need to go

Anyone out here experienced this? And if so how long till it settled?????

I'm only 34 it's a scary thought to be "incontinent" for now😱😱

    Hello

I am one month Today , and BM are still painful , and worse when there is 2 to 3 a day , I still am bleeding , going to see doc next week for followup , I have the same feeling of urgency , and even struggle to hold my urine .

This is the most painful operation I have ever had , Mine is coupled with a rare blood disease so am on waferin therapy too , which seriously slows down healing .

Life is better now than a week ago , and so on .

At one point I begged the Lord to take me or heal me cos i found myself shattered by the intense pain.

My whole life has changed , but I can say I have small victories that I celebrate and my family have been wonderful .

Wishing you a speedy recovery !!!

    Regards Wendy

I wish you a very speedy recovery too Wendy

      It's a terrible op

I actually had a baby 3.5 weeks prior to having this op unexpectedly. So it's been especially dealing with the turmoil plus a newborn and toddler.

Do you think that feeling of urgency to get to the toilet is getting easier?!

So far I've stayed home due to this..

It does subdue somewhat , maybe its too soon to tell , I had LIS surgery at the same time so that could contribute but my doctor was cautious not to over litigate .

I wouldn't worry too much. Consultant's appear to understate the after effects of the operation by a big margin!

It was a month before my operation wounds had fully healed but the trauma to my system and subsequent bowel movements has taken a lot longer. At its worse it got to 7 or 8 times a day for BMs! Six months on my movements have settled now to around twice a day, very different from prior to the operation but at least its a more regular pattern.

The important thing is that you are having movements, the last thing you want is to become constipated and having to strain!

    Good luck

      Thank you for your reassurance

It's good to know the frequency settles eventually. My dr said it's possibly due to the internal swelling and Odema. Though he thought 3-4 times was a lot and wanted it to a 1-2 a day mark.

What sort of diet are you on??

I'm eating oats, veggies fruits and brown rice.  I've stopped softeners and even prunes as I wondered if they were contributing to the frequency

What did your dr say abt 7-8 times??

I have not had surgery; however, would you be getting too much fiber and drinking too much water? I started taking a probiotic and the second night of taking it, I had diarrhea the next day. I'm going to try taking it again soon. I also had soup  with cabbage in it and that may have been the culprit for the diarrhea as well. I would suggest journalizing everything you eat and drink and try to figure out what's causing so many BMS.   I can't imagine surgery causing diarrhea. I think it would be more inclined to cause constipation

    Best of luck!

I dont have diarrhoea it's just frequent formed movements.

Funny you should mention probiotics,  I am taking one actually , I will stop it to see if it makes a difference in the frequency.

      Thank you smile
