Post Hemorrhoidectomy issues (frequent defecation)

Hi all,
I'm 38 yrs old male. 6'4 and 210 lbs. After 15 yrs of frequent but mostly minor problems, I ended up with 3 internal grade 3-4 hemorrhoids and had to have hemorrhoidectomy(Milligan-Morgan method). This was almost 6 weeks ago. The thing is, last 2 weeks or so I have these constant urges to defecate over and over (4-7 times a day). What happens is that i still have small injury inside that hasn't healed properly(doctor claims it is not a fissure). But when i poop my internal sphincter clenches before I end pooping properly and then i have to go and relax a bit before i get another urge to poop. I have some lidocaine gel that i apply like 30 mins before first defecation and i use nitroglycerine based cream (used in fissure treatments) that i apply 2 times a day. I'm afraid that my frequent pooping just constantly "refreshens" the wound and that this is going nowhere. Are there any good souls out there that might have gone through this phase of recovery? Any advice or kind words would help. Thank you upfront!

Hi DK. I am in a similar phase of recovery myself. I had my surgery 18 weeks ago and still go about 4 times a day (on a normal day) and 7 or 8 times on a bad day. My doctor also prescribed a cream that helps with the fissures and relaxes my inner muscles so I’m not spasming.
Here's what I found works best for me. Drinking a TON of water… Eating between 25 and 30 grams of fiber a day. Taking a little fiber supplement (especially if I am lower on fiber for the day), in the evening. Exercise in the morning. Stool softener at night* (I'm going to come back to this)
This all ensures I wake up and have to go. I usually then have to go again right after breakfast again. After that I get a window of calm that will sometimes last through dinner or just before dinner.. at which point I go again once and then once more later in the evening. It’s around this point in the evening that I still feel that I may have to go but I’m clenched up and can’t. I think it has to do with irritation on the scar tissue. The reason I say this is because sometimes after my second go in the morning I have the same feeling and it usually subsides after I take an anti inflammatory and sit down for a good 30 minutes. From what I have read, the internal healing process is long. Even 18 weeks later I still bleed when I go. I suspect these challenges of frequency will continue to happen until the internals heal.
Hope any of this helps you or someone.
