Post-herpetic itching, am i experiencing nerve issues/nerve misfiring?

My OB GYN has told me the on and off itching might be due to nerve misfiring and that my body may still be getting used to the virus. I was diagnosed November 2016 so she thinks that the nerves in that area may still be getting used to the virus and it may take some time and so even though I am not having an actual outbreak, I'm still experiencing the itch. Would going on daily valtrex help this issue or is there anything I can do, any treatment options that would give me some relief, I'm tired of getting this itch randomly and freaking out about it and being uncomfortable. You itch too? My OB/GYN said she doesn't think i should be itching at all since it's not down there. She says they're ingrown hair. Do you have bumps at all?

it's not ingrown hairs, unless there are ingrown hairs growing on the inside labia, whichthere isn't, because there is no hair there rolleyes

Weird right? Mine itches cause there are two small bumps on the inside of my labia. They're not herpes sores though. It could be ingrown hair for me but i'm so worried that it's not. And I have type 1 too but she says it's just because i get canker sores.
