I developed a very bad dose of shingles the first week
of December 2022 took the Anti viral treatment
the rash went away.. it was on the right side of my torso. The pain was horrendous and has never went away. I have not been able yo go to work since!
Two weeks ago i was sitting in the bath and instantly
the most horrendous nerve pain shot through my body i was screaming for help and clinging on to the bath. It took over half hour for my husband to get me out and get me to our bed i could'nt put one foot in front of the other.
we had to get an ambulance and i ended up in hospital
for 9 days .. An MRI showed root nerves were damaged in the area of spine exactly were the shingles Rash were and exactly were im Still having terrible pain Doctors did not know what was wrong and just wrote on GP letter "Back pain"
Can ANYONE ENLIGHTEN ME???
I Myself am CONVINCED this was an attack of PHN
HAS ANYONE EVER EXPERIENCED ANYTHING LIKE THIS ? The pain were the rash was is still bad enough to be keeping me from being able to go to work in my Business.. ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCE
ANYTHING LIKE THIS OR HAVE ANY ANSWERS ?
Thank you

so very sad to hear about Shingle's experience. I have had shingle's for years. It can be a lifetime of misery. My doctor first required that I have the shingle's vaccine even after my shingles breakout.
The vaccine has lessened the breakout periods and pain but the rash and scabs always remain. I have a rx for numbing cream , helps a lot.
See a shingles specialist a dermatologist. There are more meds to help control nerve pain itching and suffering. And yes I agree with you that you are showing symptoms of PHN. Please watch the foods in your diet cut out sugars and simple carbs will help also. Relaxing routine daily and exercise also very important to help manage this horrific disease.
Sending many blessings ur way.

Dear Barbara
Thank you so much for your Reply
It Is very helpful i must admit i knew little or nothing about shingles OR PHN Before going through it all myself ... It has been a difficult journey as i have already nerve damage in my left leg due to breaking my back and having rods and pins inserted 8 yesrs ago and so im beginning to wonder if my PHN is worse now because of this?
if love it if a specialist perhaps in this group somewhere would maybe enlighten me .. The attack i had in the bath is something i wouldnt like to go through ever AGAIN and so if anyone has suffered anything like it could you send me a reply it would be very helpful to know
i wish you all the best on your journey with chronic pain i fully understand what you ate going through
much love x
