post hip operation

I had a full hip replacement 3 years ago - I used this forum then, thanks to all during that time, very helpful advice, I remember all the traumas at the time.! Last Sept I gradually started getting pain in the groin/hip area, kept taking the pills! By Feb this year I had to go to GP and back to Surgeon ,all ex -rays/ ulta scan done, Burstitis diagosed, cortison injection given, went back to Consultant to report injection did nothing, then I was diagnosed with Lumbar problems, being referred to the 'Back Man' nothing yet... in meantime went for acupuncture treatment, still pain continues in hip area.
?Has anyone experienced this problem post hip operation?
I am now really fed up with pain, even the pills do not touch this pain.
?I would be very grateful for any advice from anyone who has experienced this. Thank you

welcome back ... i am sorry to read about your problem -
Is the groin pain in the operated hip? is your other hip checked?
I had 2 THR surgeries (right 1st, 6 months later left one) and not that far post-op yet to give you an answer -
when was the last time you saw your OS?
big warm hug

I had a back MRI showed degenerative disc disease, scoliosis, and 3 herniations in L1-L4..Bad back pain for over 15 years, previously I had epidurals and physical therapy and nothing helped.....Went to back Dr. told to see his partner the Hip Dr., I was bone to bone in left hip (osteoarthritis), had hip replacement anterior approach May 2015, still have numbness on outer left thigh, and bursitis flare ups when I over do it...as far as the back no change still hurts me when I bend, lift weighted things and twist...Back Dr. said he didn't see anything to fuse yet...I take Tramadol as needed and ibuprophen. I think we are just fallindg apart, and I'm only 54....

I feel u pain. I have been going through this for a long time now. The worse part is when these surgeons decide u have back issues they start pointing figured to that diagnosis.
I'm currently in a similar space. I'm seeing the surgeon in 2 weeks. Mine is a bit more complicated as my surgery included external wires which surgeon used for "stability". So now I'm faced with perhaps having a surgery to remove those unnecessary wires to see if the bursitis will go away
I'm trying to find someone on this Forum who has had these wires used
So far I have not
Keep us updated. I know how dust rated u must b.

My hips done over 2 years ago and this will make you feel a liitle better. I too have post surgery issues, not exactly what you are experiencing but just as annoying. I have muscular pain on both back thighs as well as in the butt (that gluteous area). Talked to surgeon about it, he referred me to GP who said 'get therapy', which by the way I had already and changed nothing. Right now I am learning to live with it taking advil on bad days. One thing my GP had said that i agree with, is that once a foreign element is introduced into your body such as implants etc..it takes a long time for the body to adjust and often it rebels against it, only a few go back to the life they had before. Hang in there. Hope you do find a solution to yours..

Hi I'm 70years old and 6 months post op LHR. Before the op I had groin pain but since the op my hip has been fine. I have suffered with back pain all my life and have had acupuncture at least 6 times and physio. I've even been to a chiropractor and it has helped me cope with the pain.
Over the years I have used various forms of alternative therapy and I'm reluctant to have any surgery because it seems as if when I have one thing done it causes another problem. At the moment I'm having problems with my left foot which prevents me walking any distance. I am a member of the ramblers society and I believe this is what has kept me going for the last 20 years.
I am still trying to get my foot sorted out and I'm going to see an orthopeadic surgeon next Wednesday. I hope I can get some satisfaction from this visit my physiotherapist believes it's nerve problems from my back and not plantar fasciitis that other doctors say.
I hope you can get something sorted I feel for you because I can understand the problems you are going through.
Best wishes Brenda C

Such stories. It hurts my brain and heart when I hear how everyone has suffered when complication set in
I'm hoping u next visit will help sort out u foot issues. I do know that when back issues are involved it throws all these different diagnosis in the year. Sometimes I feel it's a easy cop out for these Drs to blame the back

Hi I don't know if you remember my discussion because it's 3 months since. It was referring to the problems with my foot. I eventually got an appointment with an orthopaedic surgeon who agreed he thought it was a nerve problem and agreed to send me for a nerve conduction test. This was on August 20th and I've still not heard from them.
All the best Brenda C
