Post HoLEP PSA monitoring

Hello.

Had HoLEP procedure for BPH 5 months ago. Happy with outcome. My PSA has bubbled around between 4 and 5 for a few years. Smooth DRE. No biopsies.

Urologist phoned today as PSA is now 6.92 and I am seeing him on Friday. He did say when I had the HoLEP done that it should reduce to around 1.5 post HoLEP and I can see on the internet this seems to be the case - about a 70% to 80% reduction.

Anyone had experience with increased PSA after HoLep ?

Thanks

I had REZUM six weeks ago and just now starting to have minimal blood in the urine and no further sloughing off of blood clots. I will have PSA in another three weeks and let you know what happens with REZUM. Mine was 6.2 prior to REZUM and I, like you, am anxious to see what the PSA is after the procedure. Sorry I couldn't answer your specific question about Holep. I was wondering though. How long did you have a catheter in after your Holep procedure? I'm thinking of doing that next if the REZUM procedure doesn't help.

Lots of things (orgasm/bicycle ride/infection) can raise PSA scores. I would certainly repeat it - taking care that none of those proceed it before any worry.

yes it can be variable. post HoLEP PSA should be around 1.0 so 6.92 is surprising. Will update after I see my urologist.
