Post Hydrocele surgery

I just had Hydrocele surgery 5 days back and am having lot of pain when getting up and walking. I want to know from others about this pain and utter discomfort. Finally when did you get cured of pain and swelling in Scrotum? Were the Testes free to move about in scrotum or placed in some compartments? In my case the SACs on left and right side that encircled the testes, were full of body fluids. Total fluid removed was l liter. But surgeon removed sacs and they tested to be benign. Do you feel any hardness in some part of scrotum? My mistake is I did not use ice packs right after surgery. The Scrotal support  was hurting so I did use but used very tight underwear that lifted scrotum. Any advice will be appreciated. Unfortunately my age is just above 70.

I had the surgery two weeks ago. I had let it go for over a year and a half, lots of fluid. It took me about ten days before I noticed the pain getting less, and the stitches dissolving. Hopefully, it should get better. I laid flat, applied, ice and frozen peas. That combined with tylenol helped. Have patience, it will get better. Distraction of the mind also helps, music, movies, a good drink. I'm 62 so your not that old to have it done.

    Good Luck! G.

I had the same pain going from laying down to standing up.  It felt like I was stretching out sutures or ripping an internal scab.  I told my wife it was like someone ripping a bandaid off that has tons of hair below it.  But all under my skin.  The pain was an 8 out of 10 on the pain score.  But just resting I would say I was never above a 5 out of 10.

What I discovered was I was not using my support underwear correctly.  I am using support underwear that uses a draw string that lets you sinch up your balls.  When I would stand up I was not making sure the pouch was tied nice and tight.  Because you don’t want your sack extending down (gravity from standing up) AT ALL! So I would either literally hold my balls up with my hand or I would sinch up my pouch super tight while I was still laying down to keep my sack from dropping once I stood. It pretty much solved the pain (8 level) from that transition of laying down all night to getting up.  It still hurt but not as much at all.

I am at day 14 and I still have a dull ach that gets worse as the day goes on.  Even now I ice when I get up and ice when I get home from work.   During the first 5 days I was on 3 Advil’s every 4 hours without fail 24/7.

Yours sounds like it was big so what you describe does not sound out of ordinary.

    Hang in there brother.

Mine was in the left side and it is still swollen but getting better little by little. It is very hard on that side.  Like a rock in there.

My experience was wearing underwear that were snug or better yet, a jock strap kept everything from moving around. The movement caused some discomfort for me but not bad.  I purchased 4 jock straps and wore them for 8 weeks - over kill maybe but I walk a lot at work.

The stitches were also a source of minor discomfort. They took about 4 weeks to dissolve.  If they installed a drain, it will come out soon. That is when I saw some minor additional swelling - but overall, I had very little swelling.

The swelling at this point is probably not respond to ice as well as it would initially. But it can’t hurt to try.

Don’t let your age influence your perspective. I read a post on here from a guy who was 95. Get the boys pulled up high and tight, and then start to resume normal activities - no lifting more than about 10 lbs.

Wait 3 weeks for sex - 4 weeks if you like it a little on the freaky side.. wink.

    Hope you recover quickly.
