Post hysterectomy restroom frequency

Hi everyone,

I am 5 days post hysterectomy, left oopherectomy and Fallopian tube removals (don’t know the fancy schmancy term for that).  Obviously, it is going to take me a great while to heal, but, my question is whether or not the need to get up and pee 2 or 3 times a night is going to continue?  I’ve always been the best sleeper; when I decide to sleep, I sleep, and for a full 8 hours.  But since the surgery, I have to use the restroom every two to three hours.  Is this temporary, or should I prepare for this to be my new norm!  Thx in advance!

Hi Kari, I’m now 6wks post op. I was told to drink plenty of water (to avoid a uti - which I got anyway 🙄wink . I definitely was running to the loo more. I’m getting up once or twice in the night now but my body has adapted and I get straight bk to sleep. I’m seeing my consultant today for postop and intend to ask if things will settle. It’s certainly not as bad as it was so I reckon it just takes a while for all the bits and pieces inside to settle down and work as they should. He did say that I’d had major surgery and it would take time for everything to get back to normal so maybe it’s just time. I was also told I’d have good days and then a crappy day which has been true and mainly due to doing too much on the good days which would cause a wee set back. Just your body reminding you to rest. Best of luck with your recovery!

    Hi hun

With me I had the night weeing before my hysterectomy and repair.

I know don t wee much at all at night.

You really are so early days. I'd give it a few more weeks to see if it settles.

Once you got clearance at your post op you need to start pelvic floors to strengthen up your area otherwise it will cause other issues like prolapse.

I had tvh for uterus prolapse and front wall repair. Do you know if it a uti? Take a urine sample to surgery is first port of call my love.x
