Post Infectious IBS

Hi,

About 7 months ago i contracted some virus and after a lot of tests and symptoms i was diagnosed with post ifnectious ibs and also post viral fatigue. I had some bad sinus infections which i think was from acid reflux and i was just wiped out.

Now i am left with gas, pressure in back and some strange symptoms, so wondered if anyone else has had this.

I get a lot of pressure in my head that makes me feel like i have a cold, so wonder if it is tension headaches but it acts up when my ibs does.

I also get a feeling of muscle aches, twitches when it plays up and sometimes feel like my legs are heavy. Also cracked tongue which is annoying.

Has anyone experianced any odd symptoms with ibs like this? Also noticed my glands in neck feel sore when i get pressure in my back. It feels like the gas pushes acid or something back up but i cant seem to find any relief from it.

Hi I had semonella 7 months ago was extremely ill and never had a normal BM since. I'm

Diagnosed with post infectious sibo (ibs)

I too suffer with sinus congestion in the ears which definately doesn't help. I feel

Tired everyday and have lost my appetite. I know stress and depression aren't helping but it's hard not too when you feel crap always

I'm on the low fodmap diet no gluten dairy processed foods alcohol - but for the better diet hasn't helped me to feel better.

After such a food poisioning I've been told this may never go away. Great

Goodluck I know it's hard and I sympathise

      Hi rhonda19552,

wow that sounds rpetty much like myself. I was really ill for a while and slowly got over the bad part.

Did anyone ever say what causes sinus congestion? Interesting you mentioned fodmap not doing much as i don't think as done a great deal for me.

Did the dr ever give you anything to help? I have read it might be nerve issues and brain gut disfunction which a low dose antidepressant might help so i'm going to dr to see what else they could do.

      Hi rob

I'm on antidepressants my choice as I was dealing with my younger.sister had just been diagnosed with cancer and my mum has in hospital which put pressure on me as I had to take my father in most days. Getting sick just topped it. They say if you are having stress etc prior to a poisioning it is double.fold you will get post infectious ibs. I was originally put on flagyl - then another doctor said I could go in c flox to try and stop the ibs but the side effects of that could be tendon damage so I opted not as I didn't want anything more and the doctor said he couldn't say it would go.

So 6 months on decided to go for a colonoscopy and endoscopy as my Bowel habits

Were still not right - they found nothing another than a tortuous colon.

Suggested flagyl again for 10 days and if that didn't help just stay in fodmap diet and normafibre to try and bulk up my stools.

Felt disgusting on the tablets - after coming off them had another flare up with bad diarrea and nausea.

All this is emotional and hard to feel better.

Still watching my diet and still don't have an appetite after all this time. Lost originally nearly a stone And can't put it back on.

It's a nightmare - luckily I don't really have alot of pain but I can't handle nausea so I hope that stops as I never had it before the colonoscopy. Goodluck
