hi all

i am recovering from a bunionectomy which i had last Monday. i have been told i can potter around but mostly that i should rest my foot in an elevated position. i find pottering around quite easy and each day, i have increased my mobility so that i dont stagnate. As soon as my foot starts to throb i stop and make sure i elevate the foot again. unfortunately i cant see under the bandage however i am curious but it us bound on tight with plenty of padding.

I've been reading the forum and see that people have different experiences of this operation. im not a very good patient as im easily bored but i want to recover at a good rate.

anyone else potter around a lot and recovered ok ?

ive had both of mine done and the most moving around the first week or so should only be for the bathroom and to get up and stretch or make food. your recovery is based on the swelling at that point since you cant see it. i would be pottering around and i had both mine done. one in november of last year and one in may

with a cast and bandage on its a bit difficult to know if swollen. the only indication is the soreness. thats when i make sure my feet are elevated.

i guess its to listen to your body and mainly rest whilst recovering. i have increased pottering around each day and can move my toes more easily. i occasionally have a stinging and burning sensation by the end of day where i take one cocodamal and iberprofen before i go to bed which helps.

    Hi

I was told toilet and kettle was as far as I should go for two weeks. consultant was so impressed with healing he wanted me to tell everyone else in the waiting room what I'd done. which was toilet and kettle for the first two weeks.

I decided I needed the surgery to work. I've had both feet done. So I had to give up the two weeks. I don't think anyone really wants to sit on their bum for two weeks but if it's that or compromising healing then that was what I was going to do.

as they say" You pays your money and makes your choice"

    Good luck

kim43039 how are you doing now? I want to have bunion surgery done, but am really nervous about the recovery and time in which I need to heal. My job requires me to be on my feet for 8 hours. I know the first 2 weeks is crucial... Just wondering how your feeling after 6 weeks?
