Post op check

Hello Hippie Friends, I went for my first post op check after 12 days of surgery, I had my second hip replacement 18th APRIL, I have been struggling as I have a dropped foot on same side as my surgery, and also suffering with sciatica due to epidural and having to lay in same position. I honestly didnt think I was doing very well but told I was and they took off my dressing, which means I can go into the shower, I can also lay on my right side if i put a pillow between my legs. So at least I can now change positions providing my right hip will allow it as its still not properly healed up. I expected to be given some physiotherapy but i am told its too early! to just walk as much as possible. Although I am keen to get back to normal I will take my time rather than risk dislocating, its such a relief to get the dressing off and now on my last lap to getting back to normality. Taking one day at a time hopefully i will be ok by summer

Hi. I had my consult with my specialist last week approx seven weeks since surgery. Able to start physio this week. Dont be in a rush, just walking around 30 mins a day is enough for the first few weeks. Starting physio before you have had post op xrays to check the progress of your healing is not recommended.

I think they want both hip replacements to settle down and also the fact i have sciatica is another issue, plus dropped foot which i have to wear a splint to enable me to walk, so i think i will settle for walking as much as i can for now thank you for your message best of luck

Every one progresses at different rates. I am 8 months after right hip and I feel great and can do almost everything I was doing before you just need to set daily challenges for yourself good luck
