Post Op day 20

So most of my external stitches have now dissolved or fallen out. Pain wise I'm doing okay except if I have multiple bowel movements in a day. Very anxious today i was supposed to return to study and couldn't bring myself to go as what if i need to go to the toilet? I've had a couple of close calls where I've been out and had to promptly leave and just made it home to the toilet my step, gel and wipes. The step helps as sitting normally on the toilet it still painful when passing. Those whom have had a Haemorrhoidectomy I am very itchy now. i wake up with insatiable itch. I've been good and have tried to just put up with it. The local gel helps. I'm guessing this is due to healing?

itch is healing or could be infection

for the itch use TOM's pads for itch relief

when you use gel you mean xylocaine? Numbing agent ? If so slowly stop using it.

use more baths especially with the itch but dont use Saltz .

Thanks Meaghan yeah xylocaine gel. I'm hoping it's just healing. I did call my surgeon but he never returned my call. I'll get my hands on some Tom's.

you dont need a script for it

      what are you using now??

Got some Tom pads 🙂 just the xylocaine gel before a bowel motion. I used the last of my salt last night so just warm sitz and when i can be bothered a full bath. Fragrance free hypoallergenic baby wipes to wipe

saltz I found dry you right out causing more of an itch. vasile helps but Tom's usual does the trick.

worried of going back to work, try easing off the xlyocaine trying to have a natural BM

you literally feel a pinch but the pain isn't that bad once you get over that your good

I was wondering how you were going! Pririton is an antihistamine? yeah I can't hold for very long either its a state of emergency when the feeling comes. I can't drink much coffee anymore either which i love as it goes straight through me. If I'm out and about I still won't eat much. I'm nervous about being in class and needing to urgently leave to use the toilet. Hopefully by day 30 we will both be more comfortable. When do you go back to work?

      im getting there

never thought i would when we first communicated

im only just feeling like coffee but started decaf (when i had haems as it aggravated them ) and so far seem ok

its like we have to retrain our bowel to hold on

yes its an antihistamine and seems to work when the itching is just too much

i still have 3 more weeks off (4 weeks sick then 2 weeks leave ) so im hoping ill be back to normal by then

    I had surgury July 11th

I'm getting better each day I hit a stang right now I pushed myself to hard to fast to get back to work

best advice would be take yourself slowly off stool softener and fiber diet slowly get yourself back to yourself.

to lighten your BM load LOL

yes itching use Tom's or vaseline its either part of healing or an infection just watch for signs of infection. I was off work 30 days before going back and i pushed my doctor to write me a note saying I am fine let's go now I'm paying for it

best advice go for walks, test your limits, get of the fiber diet and all medications it will prepare you for return to work

I'll definitely take it slow I've had previous procedures Laparoscopy i also have endometriosis and returned way too early to work.

I've been trying to listen to my body as best I can this time around. Have you struggled with fatigue since the operation? I find I tire easily. I do stuff in the morning and come home around 2pm to rest. Looking forward to coming off stool softners. I hope your work place is understanding ❤️
