Post op done, Op next week

Hello all
You may recognise my name. Fairly new to this site but have added a few comments hear and there :-)
Any who, I had my pre-op yesterday for my decompression surgery.
All went well and am just waiting for my op date but have been told it will be next week. Got to admit, am nervous. I am lucky and the most I have ever had to deal with is a few fillings so this is a completely new experience for me.
I have a Chiari malformation, I have had awful headaches all my life, when ever I cough, laugh, strain, play sport for any length of time. I went to my GP when I was 16 ( I am now 30) with these complaints as I new something was up. However it was put down to other things and I just got on with life as best I could.
Last summer though, I had a very bad chest which lead to a month of coughing and after a few weeks I nee this wasn't right and the pain in my neck/head became unbearable :-(
And this also lead to a loss of feeling in my tongue ( I have the feeling back now but I get numbness everyday a fee times a day)
My GP got me in at The Walton Centre, Liverpool for a 2nd opinion and some scans and the rest, as they say is history. I have had a few consultations with a NS called Dr Buxton and his specialist Nurse Sara who have both been amazing and have really made me feel at ease through this whole experience so far.
So pre-op done, next step is surgery next week.
Will keep posting on hear, just incase anyone else is in a similar situation and they might find this helpful. I have read lots up on hear and lots of you have helped me along the way so far even if you don't know it. Just reading lots of your stories have made me realise I am not the only one and how outcomes can be good after words.
Thanks for reading all.

Best of luck with operation tom. I didn't find this site till well after my op, wish I knew about it as had bit of bad time after decompression, but I'm just unlucky had lots side effects with nausea and dizziness, loss of speech but only few days ect.. Apparently surgeon said due to damaged nerves.. 3yrs on I'm doing ok though, still have issues, but less scary when you know your not alone as you say... Plenty rest after op and plenty fluids... X
