Post Op - feedback

Hi all,

I had my hysterectomy on 01/12/2017 (12 days post op now). I had his because of Adnomyosis for the past few years and I had decided 10 years ago I wasn't having any more children when I had my tubes clipped. Anyway, I only have my ovaries remaining so that I didn't go into early menopause (I'm 42). I had my hysterectomy laproscopically and my recovery has been amazing. I was walking around the next day after and out of the hospital after 2 days. I have been off any pain relief since the day after getting out of hospital as I have no pain but my tummy does still feel abnormal (as if I had just had a baby). I went and got a doctors clearance (from the local GP) the other day so that I can work from home because I feel well enough to do this from home until I see my specialist next year after the 6 weeks. Anyway, just wanted to share my story and to let people know that some experiences can be good as well. My sister-in-law did not have a good experience as she had hers abdominally and recovering was painful for her.

Anyway good luck to people thinking about this or have this coming up.

That’s Brilliant Dee Marie but all I can say is I felt really good too and started doing normal things too soon and was back in bed with pain! It definitely takes 6 weeks to fully heal externally and up to a year internally! Be careful ♥️

    Hello Deemarie

I agree with what has been said.  Take great care to follow the instructions that you were given.  Rest is not to be underestimated as one can get tired so perhaps don't work the full day.   I felt amazing too but didn't stretch myself.  Some who do too much have problems later.  All the best.  Lynn

Great to share a good recouporation story.  I am 43 and had a full abdominal hysterectomy at the end of July. Went I on the Monday came home on Wednesday and went for a short walk Thursday morning and did this every day and feel it really aided my healing process. I went back to work after 7 weeks. I started HRT a few days after the surgery as my specialist advised not to break the hormone cycle and I have had no ill affects at all.

Remember to take it easy and listen to your body, rest when you need to and enjoy your Christmas.

    Best wishes
