Hi Debra, sorry you're having such a miserable time. Were you having these symptoms before your surgery? Did your doctor recommend starting hrt once he is satisfied with your recovery from your surgery? I haven't had a hysterectomy so I don't know what is considered to be standard procedures afterwards, but with those kind of hot flashes I'd say bhrt would be helpful.

Makes me sad I had female now a male so nervous about this as well he doesn't know me or about my 4hour plus surgery ! But want real hands on info if that makes sense haha thanks for your help can't get enough info this is horrible makes you just want to cry!! Terrible feeling with the abdominal pain from the incision swelling out the roof an wet sweat extreme hot flashes us ladies sure have it rough!! Thanks for all help sure all new to me!!

Hi. For immediate comfort/relief I'd have a cool water spray and Spanish type fan to hand. At night time a change of night dress/tshirt close by. Controlled breathing through the episode helps a little. There's been many suggestions on this forum for pills and medicines, herbal and prescribed, that you may want to look at. At the moment meno pace night works for me.

Hope you find something that helps.

Are you going to try HRT?

      Hi Maisie

I have noticed that it does affect my breathing because it got so bad during the night my husband thought I was hyperventilating 2 nights ago !

I don't know anything about HRT but got to research on it and get some ideas from others who have dealt with this I think it some of the best advice! Thanks for your help too

    Hi Debra

One of my neighbors awhile back was having bad hot flashes too and she got one of those menopause pillows that keep cool through the night. I think she also said there were other bedding products that keep you cool as you sleep.

I don't have those yet but I'm really on the hot side during the day and I use kool ties during the day. It's a scarf with crystals inside that you soak in water and keeps you cool day long.

    Hope you find relief soon
