Post Op Gastric Band Advice needed

Posted , 4 users are following.

I had a gastric band fitted 2 weeks ago and everything was ok until a few days ago when I totally lost my appetite and starting having bouts of retching which result in nothing but gas being brought up. These bouts have gone on now for 5 days and windeeze and peppermint are making no difference, I spoke to the patient line and they seem to think it is still post op gas which I am inclined to agree with but it would appear I can't burp normally and can only get rid of it by retching has anybody got any tips for dealing with this.

I did phone them and they've suggested residual gas, I've since been in touch with my own GP and got a prescription for something that should help, so fingers crossed it does the trick.

I'd felt fine up until the retching thing started but the meds from the GP seem to be helping. I have wondered a couple of times if I've done the right thing but I think that's only natural. Fingers crossed it settles down and I go back to feeling fine. Never realised how important being able to burp was before and with a band you can't seem to burp properly.

ive not noticed not being able to burp - dont think id did too much before think mine are the other way!  but can do little ones burps - just not loud ones if I still if I need to.  Glad the medication is working.  Try to make sure your moving around as much as you can.  Lie down sit up,  do your arms in windmill motions, get your hubby partner or anyone handy who can pat your back or rub it -  anything that may help.  finges crossed for you x

I'm feeling fine infact almost like I've never had it done, I seem to be able to eat what I like and other than feeling uncomfortable if I have a plateful nothing much has changed. I have my first fill on the 19th of Jan so I'm hoping that I start getting more in tune with the band after that.
