I am 23 and 4 weeks ago I had hammer toe surgery on both my feet. one foot has had just 1 k wire bone fusion on it and the other 2 k wire bone fusions and 2 tendon's have had something done. my problem is not with pain as that lasted a few days nor is it with the 2 toes that have had tendon work done. im questioning if it is normal for my toes to be raised up like a lot the ones with k wires that is. it seems wrong to me but they said something about swelling but there is none remaining. i will put a picture on to see if anyone can relate. the training nurse that took my stitches out didnt have a clue but the surgeon came in the cubicle and said strap them down but every couple of ours im replacing tape to keep them down. basicaly the nurse didnt have a clue but i dont blame her i blame who ever dropped that on her. bit concerened thts all any reasurance wil help as im a bit of a worryer. im bad at spelling also so please excuse that. thanks in advance.

it just looks like that's the placement of it for healing. It may have moved slightly after surgery but you need too let it set like that. If you keep moving it or taping it down it will affect the healing process and may not heal ever.

the surgeon said it needs taping down to the nurse but every 6 or so hours the tape just looses its stick and the toe raises again its costing me a fortune in medical tape

Did you have your second toe fused? Mine was fused about five months ago. I'm young just like you, turned 20. And I'm just so scared about this surgrey. I'm still recovering. What scares me is that they say it's for older patients. I didn't research any of this before my surgrey. Hopefully everything will be OK. It's been a long and depressing journey for me. I just want everything to work out in the long run. I wanna be able to walk long distances and not even think about my toe all the time.
