Has anyone suffered with a post-op infection within a month of their surgery? Just wondering if it hindered recovery at all and what your symptoms were?

hi Rachel
what sort of infection do you have? I never had any thing but I know UTI are very common after any gynaecology surgery due to the catheter.
I made sure I only washed in shower with pure sanex gel with no perfumes, chemicals etc and never washed near the vagina. what's also important is probiotics linked optibac for women.
the vagina can loose it's natural ph after surgery so that really helps against infection.
other times it just happens.x

Not a UTI but possibly a post-op infection of the wound site. I basically ended up with severe pain (comparable to the days after my op) at week 4 and I was very tired, nauseous, also had diarrhoea, which was the complete opposite of what i had been like since the op. My consultant was overseas and suggested I take antibiotics and possibly go to A&E. I still had a week supply of antibiotics from when i left hospital, as they gave me way more than I needed to take intially, so I have been taking them for nearly 4 days and definitely feel much improved now. The severe pain has reverted back to a dull ache, like I had at weeks 2 & 3, so I do feel on the mend. Just wondered if anyone else had experienced this. I did think my wound had opened up as it was so so painful but perhaps it was an infection after all.
It seems there is so much stuff surrounding this operation that consultants and surgeons don't explain.

they say nothing in depth.thats why so many poor ladies have failed repairs for one reason or another. I make sure I ask too many quextions as they get paid enough.
my consultant is marvellous but I still need to ask if I need to know anything.

i am 4 weeks post pelvic floor repair op now and still suffer with some degree of pain and my stomach is also still quite swollen .
I have really taken things very easy apart from doing the normal "life "duties that even they seem to make me feel i have done too much.
I am a little concerned though because I had a holiday pre booked prior to my op which I took at 2 weeks post op and I'm now worried that THE FLIGHT (3 hours ) has set me back perhaps in my recovery .
I did a very stupid thing and took aspirin thinking it would assist to thin my blood out so i did not get DVT which seemed to be the major worries with flying . Anyway i took too much aspirin and thinned my blood too much which did result in me bleeding day after flight which stopped the next day but I am worried what damage thats done .
ANY ADVICE ???
