My Dr. Told me I can't drive for 2 months after the stimulator is implanted. I thought that was really long! Curious as to your post op instructions.  Thanks! 😊

    I was told that you can drive 48hrs after or when you feel fit and ready to do an emergency stop.

    Check with your insurance as well to be safe, let them know what you had done and make sure your covered

    Hi Pam. Do you mind me asking where you had it implanted and for what type of pain please? I am going to see a pain specialist about getting one for slipped disk and fibromyalgia pain. Any advice would be much appreciated :-)

      I'm doing the trial on January 11th.  If it works, he'll implant it 1 month later.  I have low mid back pain due to 2 failed fusions.  He's using the Nevro system.  I've been reading quite a few negative comments about the Nevro which is making me a bit nervous.... I'm currently on morphine and Vicodin for the pain.  I figured I can at least do the trial, and see what happens. He told me during the trial, I can't leave the house ( to prevent infection). Then if they implant it 2 months with no driving...which seems a little extreme to me!  I don't know if I have a lot of advice other than ask a lot of questions.

      Honestly with the pain I was in I didn't drive for 6-8 months til the unit shut off it was like a miracle I didn't want to get out of bed but everyone is different my Dr called me a failed SCS and was gonna try St Jude's stimulator but the pain I was consuming about for 2 years he know thinks it has to do with nerves sciatica and might have to have another fusion but took 2 years of numerous trying different settings that made me worse amd just didn't care like I gave up but once it turned off I was like yes!! I miracle but I still had pain but had the will to get out again go shopping a little bit using the electric carts walking to much tires me out within 5 mins limping and hurting so it's rough just had the explant which is the removal of the Nevro I'm at square one again with everything including Dr who I had for 10+15 years idk what to do

      I feel so lost and betrayed

      My last appointment is December 28th new insurance new primary and than a new pain management doctor

      I thought one of the advantages about the Nervro was you could drive with it on. I can see a few days after getting it implanted for both the trial and the permanent scs but 2 months? I was driving about a month after my multi level lumbar fusion. I'm not a dr, just telling you my experience. Good luck.

    I was not given any driving restrictions after the implant - only that I turn it off when I drive.
