Post op, laparotomy

Okay so I had my cyst removed this past Thursday and my surgeon told me it was a dermoid and is benign, when I asked how he knew for sure it was benign he told me the pathology lab cut it open and could tell it was a dermoid. I'm still concerned as I think this tumor should or should have been tested. I tend to overthink a lot but I need confirmation that this was in fact a dermoid cyst. Any one else experience this? Has any of your doctors done the same?

The pathologist will do a preliminary report while your still in the table -- then over the next 3days they take other slices from it and triple check it. If anything changes they would let you know ASAP - Don't stress I am sure it was fine

Yes you are so right I just saw my surgeon today and my results were in, it was in fact a dermoid cyst and it is benign. He explained that while your in the hospital they check it quickly which is 98 percent accurate and then send it off to check again for the 2 percent .... Thank you for your reply I feel like a huge weight has been lifted .,.. Merry Christmas

      Went to the ER over the weekend and they did another Ultrasound. I have 3 cyst on my left ovary #1 (9.5cm x 6.2 cm x 9.3cm) --- #2 (5.9cm x 6cm x 5.4cm) --- #3 (3cm x 4.9cm)

They sent me home with pain medications and I spoke with my physician today. I have a surgery consult tomorrow at 2 pm. I am hoping to get this done ASAP. I hope mine goes as smoothly as your surgery did.

That would make me nervous too! I think there is nothing wrong with following up by calling your doctors after a week or so.

How is the recovery so far? I'm supposed to get mine removed on December 30. I have a cruise scheduled on January 10. Is it crazy for me to reschedule the procedure?
