Hello terri. Basically you've had 2 procedures performed at the same time so think of it a 2 lots of major surgery. Pain can and often is severe after one repair so it's understandable you are having considerable pain. I had a rectocele and cystocele repair 5 years ago and had a lot if pain so you aren't alone. What pain relief have you been prescribed? It could be that it's not effective. Are you taking it religiously and not waiting for the pain to reach a peak because that's really important?

I'm obviously trying to be 'superwoman' as us women do from time to time!  I'm taking co-dydramol and ibuprofen 4-6 hourly again now but I had dropped to just paracetamol to see how the pain faired. I don't like taking stuff like tramadol etc. The pain is less at night as obviously I'm resting but after an hour when I'm up I feel like I'm back to square 1. Oh well tiny steps, I am quite impatient!

terri don't be a martyr. If you are in pain take something that is going to work. Pain hinders recovery.

If your pain isn't well controlled with the meds you have now, do ask for help.  Post surgery is one of the few times they will just believe you are in pain and give you better meds if you need them.

Think may have overdone it! Nearly 4 weeks post op for infracoccygeal sacropexy plus enterocele and anterior repair etc and have been doing pretty well I think apart from pain which has been steadily improving, and the usual ongoing kidney infections. Anyway yesterday went out in car with hubby driving and had a very short walk to DIY store and not mcuh more than that really apart from pottering around the house. So I didn't sleep last night because of so much pain and actually feel like I've just had the surgery, couldn't stop going for a pee and my bladder is so sore. My mind is way ahead of my body in terms of recovery and I'm a bit frustrated and upset today and feel I'm definately not ready for the outside world yet. Back to bed for me this afternoon with the strong pain meds and a hot water bottle!

So sorry to read this terri. Do you think you could have a urine infection although I know you've mentioned ongoing kidney infections I'm not sure if you're taking antibiotics or not? I said before that you've had 2 major surgeries so you are probably going to take that little bit longer to recover. I just think yesterday was too much and you are now doing the right thing going to bed this afternoon with painkillers. Take then regularly and don't wait for the pain to reach a peak before you do take them. Don't be a martyr, your body is telling you to rest x

Yes I have urine infections all the time and it always goes to my left kidney, many times have been admitted to hospital as emergency for sepsis. I had a reimplantation of left ureter 3 years ago due to a blockage so it's an open channel for infection. I have prophylactic antibiotics and 2 more prescribed when it gets out of hand. The recent op was just another in a series to put the bladder back into place so that I could pee without using catheters and so has been successful in that respect. I know after my hysterectomy 13 years ago that it took a long time to recover so I am prepared for that. Probably just a bit down and welcome the support from people who actually understand!
