Hi to all,i am now 7 days post op after having a m.discectomy.I am doing well the pain in the back is manageable and i'm moving around quite well. The worrying thing is the pain that seems to have returned in my leg and buttock? Is this normal, does it take time for pain to go?feel quite down as i wasn't expecting this.I was also told by the consultant after the op that she thought my bones were 'soft'?Any thoughts.I am 40 fit(ex dancer, now teach aerobics, spin etc how can this be?)
Please any advice on any of my queries.
Thanks alot and all the best to fellow back sufferers.

Had a microdiscectomy 4 and a half weeks ago. At first everything was brilliant no more leg pain however at day 5 leg pain started and although not as bad as before operation very much back. Apparantly this is normal as the nerve heals especially if it was impinged for a long time. I have been advised to continue taking Diclofenac and walk. I'm told the nerve recovers very slowly and can remember previous pain so this may continue for many months. I have also bee advised to get back to normal as far as possible avoiding any formal exercise, until week 6. I tried acupunture las week and had my first, since pain returned at day 5, pain free day although still a bit of tingling.
I have been overwhelmed by just how painful and depressing all of this is and wish fellow sufferers a speedy recovery.
