Post op pain and bleeding

Hi I had a total hysterectomy in February last year and on the whole have found my recovery quite well. However over the past couple of months I have experienced severe pain and bleeding during intacourse. The bleeding on occasions is extremely heavy and bright red in colour. Can anyone advise whether this is normal please and should I seek medical.advice x

I would definitely call your doctor! The pain and bright red bleeding are signs that something is wrong.

Hi I had the same op and experienced bleeding after intercourse it can be caused by scaring to the vaginal cuff (granulation) which may clear up on its own or require treatment. Otherwise it can be the position maybe causing problems if you find it eases then returns when using the same position this can also clear up on its own if its avoided till heald, maybe not enough lubrication internally or too deep as it has shortned internally . Either way visit a Dr to confirm it shouldn't be left without consulting one to be sure of tge source.

You don't say how old you are? But besides that anyway, you should have got it checked immediately after 1st time it happened. When you can't check your internals yourself then bleeding and pain like you describe should be checked straight away. Was your cervix left in place? Also menopause can cause dryness & thin vaginal walls but I don't think those would cause what you described.

Yes my dear seek medical advise immediately. I had the same issue however your surgery was last February so I may not be the same. I had bleeding after intercourse 2x and severe pain. The first time I went in I had to have emergency surgery!

Today I saw the doc about pain. It turns out that my pelvic muscle is sprained! Yes sprained. Lol. So I have vagina P.T. and was prescribed vagina Valium, and no I'm not kidding. Its a suppository you put inside. The pharmacy makes it right there. I tell you what it helps with the pain. Lol. Hope this helps. My doc advised me that savvy kind of bleeding is not common!!! So please got to your doc ASAP. Sox. Best of luck love.

Hi Shelley to be honest I would get this checked by a doctor as soon as you can. It doesn't sound right & if it turns out to be nothing at least you will have peace if mind. No one should have to live with pain hun. Let us know how things go.

    God bless

Hi Shelley. I had a total hysterectomy, prolapse repair and tvt 8 weeks ago and I haven't tried having set yet. Reading your concern and others responses about how bleeding can sometimes happen has apprised me. If I'd had sex and bled I would have panicked thinking something is wrong. I'm due to have my follow up appt next week so will ask about this. My vulva area hasn't healed properly yet so sex isn't on the cards yet and quite frankly I'm rather scared about it too. Hope you get sorted and keep us informed on how you get on.

Hi sweety. I read your letter to Shelley, and since I have had issues sexually Im warning you to take it slow when you are ready. Don't fear it BC we are all different. Definitely don't be tense BC that too will cause complications. However don't do it fast, hard, deep or crazy. Baby steps. Best of luck love💝

Thank you Diana. It will be very slow and gentle as I think hubby is just as concerned about hurting me. He's very understanding and hasn't and still isn't putting any pressures on me. God love him.

I think it's going well although I have days with pain and think why. So I'm putting it down to the healing process.
