hi,
im new to this forum. I had a complete right hip replacement 3 days ago that seems to have gone well. But I have just developed a really sharp pain on the underside of my heel (on the operated side). Seems to get a bit better when seated, but is bad when lying and walking.
Is is this Normal?

I got this too. Think it's from lying in bed so long. Mine didn't last long so hope yours improves soon.

Congratulations on your new hip. I am 13 weeks post op and the worst pain I had through it all was heel pain. I tried having my husband place rolled up towels underneath to raise them off the bed slighly, which helped a bit. Then I developed ankle swelling and found on amazon, i cant post the link as will not be allowed but a foam leg raiser cushion. Best thing ever. So comfortable, you can see from the pic your heels hang over, and it got me a good nights sleep as the pain in heels just got worse very quickly and so bad I went to bed in trainers and posted for help here and got a lot of good suggestions. Also invaluable for resting in the early days to raise legs if swollen.

Best of luck with your rehab.
I have picked up some great tips on this site and everyone is so supportive. Xx

I had similar problems and it was caused from heel burn. Once I wore woolen socks and also use a physical aid to keep my blankets/sheet etc off my feet I was good.

Hello,
i had the very same thing, and still do. I'm 10 weeks after surgery. I was told it's because when you sleep on your back after surgery, you don't move during the night so it's a pressure problem. I could t find a way to place pillow under legs and still cover with sheets and blankets. That would be the solution so I hope you can. Good luck!
