Most of you lot know me so I won't bore you with the recap. What I'd like to know is it normal for dairy (ice cream) or things that are very sweet disagreeing with your stomach after colon surgery? This is so annoying!

Yes. It's going to take your stomach and colon time to learn how to digest again. With a shorter colon things move alot quicker.

Yes, if you find something is bothering you wait a few days and try it again.

Your gut is probably trying to tell you that the very sweet stuff you keep sending down is really annoying!

I candies apples(baked sugar cinnamon) and boiled blueberries with a pinch of sugar, evidently the sugar was too much. I put very little on my waffle. To be honest this was pretty healthy so I was a bit surprised. I've noticed that ice cream is also a no fly zone🤬. So, what can I bloody eat besides chicken, potatoes, soup, eggs, and white bread? Too early for canned green beans? Can't wait to eat sushi!

Was wondering if you have tried sherbet? It may go better then ice cream but still does have sugar. It works better for me. Unless your doctor has told you otherwise I would think you could try to eat about anything . Just try things in small amounts and see how it goes. Stick to new things one day at a time so you can be sure if it is bothering you. If it does wait awhile ( week) and try it again. It's a process for sure. 😃

Loads of folk say stay away from tomato based sauces...well I had a bowl of tomato soup with basil two days ago and it went down well. Would love some marina with pasta, but not brave enough yet. Wondering whether Mac & cheese would do okay? I miss vegetables badly. Also as an Englishman fish & chips. Probably not a brilliant idea to have anything fried. Definitely not brave enough to risk that. We in fact have lime sherbet, I may indulge today😊👌🏼. Egg salad sandwich would be brilliant as well, but the mayo might do me in. Every day is a hurdle for sure.

I thought I could manage all of this without pain pill...boy was I wrong. My incision which is in the pubic area is a blimey rainbow colour of bruising, in the late afternoons it tends to ache. I usually can go all day without pain meds...up until about 4 PM ish. My bm's now tend on presenting themselves at all time of day. So odd, as I had a routine prior to surgery. Hopefully this is the new healthier me, even if that means going 8 times a day, a little at a time.

I avoided tomato based stuff or acidic foods only because of the diverticulitis ,sepsis and antibiotics did a number on my stomach. I eat them now but still am watchful about the seeds.

Had a small toasted sourdough with honey roasted Turkey breast (deli slices) small amount of mustard. World's most boring sandwich. That's as brave as I am clost to two weeks post op. Miralax tonight for sure.
