Hi all, firstly thank you all for your continued encouragement, support and advice.
After the walk in the park on Monday I realised I had pushed a little to hard. Walking for 1/2 hour was too much too soon for my first walk but you live and learn. I had a nightmare sleep that evening and Tuesday was in a lot of pain down my thigh and in the joint.
i didn't sleep too well last night either but the thigh is loosening up now and the joint pain has faded.
i managed to walk around the house and garden before for about 10 mins using 1 crutch, it's not gonna be all the time I just thought I would try it.Â
Hopefully I will get through this second week ok and then kick on from there.
Good luck to all pre and post hippies,
Regards,
Mark

sounds like rest then try again.....that worked for me. Plus paracetemol tabs and red wine! your next half hour walk will be much easier!
Cheers

It's all too easy to throw caution to the wind when we are doing well but if you think about what you have been through, and the mess that there still is inside the well healing wound, it's not surprising that our bodies give us a little kick sometimes to make us apply the brakes a bit.
10 mins around the house and garden sound great and I would limit yourself to that, every so often, for the next day or so at least, until the pain has worn off again then maybe try upping it to about 15mins each stint. Half an hour was maybe a bit optimistic but I know how much we all want to be recovered and back to normal. That will come, but for now, little and often is the way. Patience is something not a lot of us humans are endowed with in the fast paced lives of today but this is one time you need to find some from somewhere, otherwise you could have the opposite effect of what you want and make your recovery take longer than it needs to.
I hope you feel well again and start sleeping again soon. Sleep is paramount to our recovery and even if you need to nap during the day it doesn't matter as long as you are getting a good few hours sleep each day.
Take care and no wild parties. Ok? 😉
Ali xx

What will happen is, typically, you will progress a little bit, progress is very slow in the beginning. About week 3 to 3 1/2 you will be a lot better and amazingly at week 4 you are going to be a WHOLE lot better.
See the thing is they cut you, exercizing or not exercizing does not make those wounds heal faster, it just takes a certain amount of time for your body to knit itself together again. This knitting back together seems to be *almost* complete in week four which is why you will suddenly feel a whole lot better in week 4.
I didn't do anything until week 3 1/2 and week 4 and then in literally a matter of days, within five days I went from using a zimmer/walker to two crutches, to one crutch to NO crutch. I made that entire transition in 5 days, because my body was healed up and it was ready.
I wish you the VERY best recovery. You will be feeling pretty great around week 4 to 5, unil then do not be discourages with slow progress.
