Hi Linda:  Yes I just had that awful cold.  I am 3 months PO from a THR.   Had the cough and all that

stuff.  Went to Dr. and got a Z pack. (Antibiotics)   That helped a lot.  It will pass.  Get lots of rest and do your exercises and drink lots of fluids.  Every day it gets better as does the THR.  I never thought I'd get off the walker and cane.  Went to PT for 6 weeks and really liked it.  Good Luck Linda.   "Call your Dr. for something to help with that cold".    Stacy   P.S.  I try to ride the bike (at the gym) every other day, but with the cold I couldn't and I noticed that my surgery hip is a little sore.  Back to the Gym Now.  Exercise, Exercise, Exercise.

Wondered if you had general anistectic (sorry spelling), rather than a spinal block, I was part of a study into the difference, and the staff were kind enough to show me the differences in success rates with recovery, spinal block had a much better outcome, less lung problems, and much shorter stay in hospital, even early on the results of the study were showing huge differences, and I believe the study still had a few months to run.

If my hospital published their stats, as I suspect they would, it would influence a lot of hospitals to go with spinal blocks

I had to have an emergency op three weeks after my THR. I was told it was with general anaesthetic. As I had had a spinal for my THR I asked if I could have one for that op, they said OK eventually with a few “ums” I would not have known about spinals otherwise and would have had a general.

I wonder if you have a post nasal drip down the back of your throat, that could account for the sensation of not being able to clear your throat.

Could even be viral, but if you are in England say away from Dr's, with this flu doing the rounds the worst place to be unless you are really sick, high temps you do need to see a dr.

?Please everybody in England be extremely careful, we had this flu here in Aust during winter, NASTY little beasty, and made a lot of people very ill.

Hi ,I don't think this is anything related to your op as I've got exactly the same and my hip was done over a year ago. I went down with flu/norovirus on new years day and like you have been left with this awful cough/wheezing chest and runny nose. I've tried taking cough medicine before going to bed but as soon as I lie down I start coughing. When I eventually get to sleep its only for a few hours as I start coughing again and wake myself up. I've not been to the doctors as I keep thinking others are worse than me, but I may have to go.

Hope everything with your hip is going well. It was the best thing I've ever had done. I've got my life back again.
