Post Op Wound Problems & Pain

Had bilateral endoscopic (I think. 1.5" incision on palm) carpal and cubital tunnel release surgery 22 days ago. I feel it's important to include that I'm type one diabetic
All stitches were removed 10 days post op. Palm incisions opened up the day of stitch removal. Per my surgeon several wound closers were applied and left in place until they fell off on their own. Stayed on several days but wounds continue to open. More wound closures applied (per doc).
On day 18 a closure fell off. No one else was available so I attempted to reapply on my own. Didn't do it properly so I had to remove and reapply the next day. Day 19 and 20 I had severe pain in the evening Incision on my left hand would start hurting immensely ( keeping my hand partially closed and cupped made it so the pain wasn't as bad ) followed by nerve pain. This nerve pain would go up the arm and radiate. A "don't touch any part of my arm. Don't touch me period" intensity was reached. Day 21 same thing complete with wound closure falling off and proper reapplication with the right hand.
When the pain reaches that intensity if anything has to be done to the wounds or my arm all I can do is cry and possibly shake. I have experienced getting my knee and armpit tattooed and that doesn't compare to this intensity
No signs of infection. Cubital incisions are looking good. I have read about people experiencing pain postop but I don't think this is normal. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Hi this definitely doesn't sound good, I haven't actually had the surgery yet but I'm a nurse so I'd say, although you say the wounds look good you should get it checked for possible infection as it's reopened so many times.
good luck

Hi,
I had my surgery 56 days ago and am still experiencing a lot of pain where the incisions were and in my palm. Dr. keeps telling me it's normal healing.
