hi guys and gals, in my preparation to see the surgeon I'm just curious to see what people results are post op in relation to pain relief in the long term.
Im not sure if I will be having a Disectomy or Laminectomy.
I think it will be a Disectomy.
Ive seen some statistics online somewhere that said not a lot of people get 100% pain relief

I had a discectomy back in Jan 2011. My pain before surgery was 10/10 (10 being the worse pain possible) and the pain after surgery was 1/10. When i woke up, there was no pain as the disc matter pressing on my Sciatic Nerve had been removed successfully.
However, 4 years on. I still get some sciatica and lower back pain and discomfort, especially sitting at a desk all day or if i'm out walking all day. But this is very manageable. If you do experience any discomfort some time after surgery, i would suggest stretching and pilates as this became my pill to manage my sciatica. In addition, i was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease. I''m sure this has something to do with it aswell. You will feel a million times better after surgery and will not regret it. Dont forget, it is a very slow recovery process but you can get back to ordinary life quite quickly.

i had a disc problem in may, 2013 did physiotherapy, hydrotherapy and chiropractor and the pain was gone but continued with hydrotherapy. November 2014 i fell and the disc got worse. Tried all the therapy and nothing was working.January 2015 went for two nerve blocks got relief and one day i slept on several pillows and i was back to zero. I went for Radiofrequency in March 2015 and nothing doing. i went for operation to remove the disc on 4th may(this month) and i can believe it, I am in no pain. My legs are abit weak but i feel great. God is good and i can never stop to praise Him.
