I was very lucky with little pain and no infections

However I did experience pain once I began weight bearing

Even now, 8 months later some days my ankle is a little sore. But for the most part Im back to all my activities.

so sorry to hear you have infection, after my orif

at around 7-8 weeks i developed redness, heat and pain. immediately i was put on i. v antibiotics and ordered off my leg and again non weight bearing . it will set your recovery back for sure physio had to be halted till round of i v and then oral antibiotics were finished. i couldn't feel my pins but i had so much pain from infection . be sure to get rid of the infection and take your time to recover. i decided to have the pins removed 18mths after since i still had restriction in tendons and some pain around pins. and guess what happened???? infection again and back on iv antibiotics...... but eventually you will get better maybe still have residual painhope it heals soon for you

What caused the infection so far into healing? I thought once the incision was healed that you're pretty safe?

Hope you feel better soon! take care
