Post partial hysterectomy question?

I am on week #2 post surgery for having partial hysterectomy. I have my ovaries however, they did take my fallopian tubes, hugely enlarged uterus and 2 grapefruit sized fibroids. I stayed the night in the hospital. I was up and walking within hours of being out of surgery. It seemed logical to keep my blood flowing and circulating. I was medicated so it didn't hurt. I have now been home a week. I live alone so I have been taking care of myself. I am quite bloated in my belly area to where it is very annoying. And my lower left ankle/foot keeps going knumb? not sure why. Also, yesterday I got very upset with a conversation with my daughter who can be stern and I tensed up and cried like a baby. My bellybutton glue popped and blood was everywhere. That was very scary. I had not been bleeding at all since surgery now I'm also spotting. The Dr. told me to put a pad on my belly and apply pressure. Bed rest and no more talks with my daughter until I'm healed. I may have done too much as well. I did feel really good until yesterday. Should I now be concerned that suddenly I'm spotting and my belly scab is not fully off it is till semi attached and bloody. I want to shower but terrified? Anyone have any words of wisdom from a pretty scared first time surgery gal?

I know how you feel. I had a myomectomy last year and also was my first ever type of surgery or stay in hospital. its so scaring. Thats great you are getting up and about, but really take it easy, get yourself a good bok, watch that box set you've been meaning to watch. No more chats with your daughter, its a shame she got u so upset, , so no more cying , that sounded painful. No real words of wisdom , i think i didn't take a shower, i sat in a very shallow bath, no water near my wound and just used a flannel. The scab will fall off when it wants. Chin up, you'll get through it, you really will. Tempted to have a hystrectomy just to get these massive fibs out, but to scared as i am only in my 30s

Hi there! Thank you so much for your comment. You seem wiser than a 30 year old. I am listening to the Dr. and my body and taking it easy for sure. I have had nothing but a good experience with my surgery. However, I am 50 and my children are grown. I am not looking to have any others. I had no choice but to have all but my ovaries taken out. I am glad I did it. I have showered and it just calmed me down a lot. The sides are healing much quicker than my belly button. I guess it is because it is bigger and i'm so bloated. Good luck to you as well... Again thankyou for your kind words. I feel so much bettersmile

Hi , I'm midway through week three following a total laparscopic hysterectomy. I felt good straight away but haven't progressed much beyond that.  I'm 57 and was post menopausal before the op but like you I'm very tearful not helped by my middle son flying off to Australia on Wednesday on a one way ticket.  I've started a little spotting this week and was a bit concerned until I found the following site on Google, hystersisters, that has really helped to ease my mind and realise the importance of resting and if necessary being selfish and self indulgent (never easy at the best of times). If you're worried please contact your doctor who I'm sure will be able to reassure you that things are progressing as they should. Take care

Just try to relax. Keep the wound clean and rest up. You are doing too much. The emotions will settle, you have just been through trauma and need bed rest my dear.

Hi Marketa, Thank you for the advise. I agree with you that I need to rest. I just had so much energy after surgery that I felt so good to do things. However, this week proved me wrong. I am resting and catching up on my reading and reality TV. What can I say I had to do it. hahahahasmile Thanks again!!
