Post radical prostatectomy recovery

I had my prostate removed on Sept. 21, (I am writing this on Nov. 21), so it has been 2 months. My catheter did not want to come out at first, so it was in for just under 4 weeks. I was wondering how long it takes for bladder control to cease being a problem.

Right now I am getting by using Depends guards, (maximum), and I think I am coming along, but I still can't go out to a store and walk around without leaking. The surgeon sait everything went well and he was able to save the nerves, so I'm hoping that, in time, things will get back to normal, but it is frustrating to be always worried about a leak in public.

I would love to here about some other patient's recovery times.

So I just saw my surgeon for my second blood test and PSA is still 0 so it looks like the cancer is gone. Pretty much full control of my bladder too, unless I do something strenuous, but still not much progress as far as ED goes.

I took barney34567's advice and got a prescription for the 5mg daily-dose Cialis.

I'll get that filled this week and see how that goes. The doctor said that the daily-dose is better.

I was told you should take the Cialis daily at the same time. I take it at dinner time as I find taking it close to bed time keeps me awake. In my case it acts like a stimulant.

I started doing pelvic floor exercises before my surgery several weeks before I got my catheter out after a week and use pads for a couple weeks later and slowly started to take them away. I believe the pelvic floor exercises helped. I think that it will take longer for you to get control because you have a catheter in so long
