hi all

I feel a bit mad currently. 8 days post posterior vaginal wall repair feeling sore and swollen but resting. On citalopram for anxiety and have always had white coat syndrome. BP high on admission and 245/140 when under anaesthetic so scarily high. Been put on Amlodipine and taking bp twice a day but it's still high, and I'm getting into a real state about taking it which is making it worse Then anxiety kicks in massively, cant sleep so feel like I am always on edge, which is not helping my healing. Also feel like I smell - changing pj's every day despite 2 showers a day. will I explode or am I just going mad? 😬

It takes ages to recover and the best thing to do is rest and try to relax. I found it useful to lie on the bed and read or do my crochet to take my mind off the pain and discomfort. Wear huge sanitary pads as they not only help to soak up any leakage or odour but they are more comfortable on all your sore bits. It is a horrible operation and their vision of how quickly you can recover are extremely optimistic. Take your time, do not overdo it. I had awful problems trying to pass a bowel movement to begin with so don't forget to take the stuff they give you. I found that Laxido from my GP helped more that the one hospital gave me. I hope you start to feel more like yourself soon and that you have a good support network

    hi

I'm sorry I have no advice with regards high blood pressure , but the smell is totally normal.

the reason you smell is the residue from the surgery and yiur stitches healing.

the smell drove me crazy but I can assure you in about 2 to 3 weeks the smell will get less and less.

I was so paranoid I would not want anyone sitting next to me lo.l but it's all normal.

no lifting, bending for 6 weeks and never strain to poo ever . I took movicol for months to ease my bowels which helped my bowel movements to be soft.

    rest easyx

Hi, I really do feel your plain. I'm exactly 4 weeks post op, having had the same repair as you - for the second time in 12 months! Swelling seems to take a while to settle, I t think the answer is rest, rest and more rest. After 2 weeks I noticed an unpleasant odour and was put b on antibiotics, so it would be worth making an appt to see your GP. Sorry to hear you are struggling g with anxiety. There is an organization that you can self refer to on line called I Talkservice they are free and I have found them helpful in t h e past. Hope this has been of help, take care. Sarnie.
