Post retinal detachment surgery

Hello all,

December 2 I had retina detachment surgery and on my day after follow up visit the doctor gives me a return to work sheet for the 15th. Well, today is the 21st and still cannot go back to work. I am building inspector, drive a town vehicle and, unfortunately today I need a patch to see for basically everything I do. My right eye remains very blurry, everything shrinks up about 10%, pictures are skewed to the right and the heads of everyone when looking through my right eye only, are basically shrunken. When I went to a major eye center and had an exam from a surgeon there (who also did my first retinal detachment in my left eye three years ago) he showed me where the eye nerve is slightly damaged and that I may, at some time need surgery due to scar tissue. My question is; how soon will my vision come back to my right eye to where I no longer need this patch? Or, because of the nerve damage is this now the normal? Also, during surgery I woke up due to the fact that this particular surgeon prefers no general anesthesia . Only medicine to put me under long enough to number and start going to work. Can anyone help?
