Hello, I had surgery under both arms about a month ago. The surgery went very well but now I'm having complications. The left arm hasn't completely healed yet but over the past couple of days it's has become very stiff/heavy, drainage gushing out, and incisions swollen and red. It hurts to move my arm and lift it up let anyone laying in the bed. Has anyone experienced this a month post surgery?? I've become very nervous and oh I've been on antibiotics since the day of surgery. Help please!!!

    Hi Amber

I had this surgery done on both arms many years ago and all the stitches gave way on one of my arms but completely healed eventually so don't despair just keep a watch in case of infection. I had to attend for aftercare/ wound care. It just took longer to heal on that arm. As I say, it was a very long time ago (1988/89) so things may have changed a lot. I was told at the time that there was a 10% chance that it could come back but fortunately it never did so I was one of the lucky ones (although I do still suffer in other areas but not to the extreme of some poor people with this horrible disease. I also found that it got easier after the menopause but every person is different and what works for one doesn't always work for another. I am 60 years old now and still suffer outbreaks but I still don't know what starts them off. I hope this has been helpful to you and alleviated some of your fears with regard to your recent surgery. I sincerely wish you a very speedy recovery and hopefully it will all have been worth it in the end. Please feel free to ask me any questions if you want. Good luck Amber!!

    Good morning

I would go back to the doctors to have your tablets changed

Few of my oops have taken months to heal seeping loads I've even had to have maggots to clear the infected areas

Arms are a very difficult area to heal dress as your using them sweating from there unless u have had your glands removed

Most def go to get tablets changed and just keep changing dressing every day
