Post Surgery Pain???

Posted , 6 users are following.

I am a 51 year old that is three weeks post robotic surgery. My catheter was in for 10 days post surgery. I am still have intermitent pain in my penis (most in the head). I would say this happens 15-20 a day. Sometimes only for 15-30 seconds, other times for 1-2 minutes. After my first urination this morning, the pain lasted for about 2 minutes and I would rate it at 7-10 on the pain meter (it is not usually this bad). Has anyone else experienced this? When does it stop? Thanks.

You seem to have a urethritis. When a catheter is indwelling for 10 days, biofilm will always build up. Generally you would be given a gentaycin injection at the time of its removal to deal with the potential urethritis. It sounds as though you need a longer course of antibiotics such as azithromycin. Go and see your doctor!

      romneyj,

Thanks for the information. I was given three doses of Cipro for potential infection. I will call my Dr. and let him know what is going on. Again, thanks for the information, it was helpful.

I Can't help you with pain in the penis, Romney has made a lot of sense in this forum I would be guided by him if I were you.

Should you develop other pain, which I developed and to me seemed like nerve pain or bladder pain,  I was prescribed low doses of Amitriptyline which worked brilliantly.
