Posted on her before about Vitamin D deficiency and bone pain, please help!

Hi,

I have posted on here before about being vitamin D deficient, which I have been on high dose therapy (2x20,000 per week) for 10 weeks (last dose is next week). Recent check showed my levels back to 85. Dr said was high probably because I had just taken a pill the day before.

I need some reassurance that this bone pain isn't anything more than just symptoms of the deficiency. Someone out there must have experienced or is experiencing the same thing as me?

I have bone/muscle pain in the following areas (listed worse to least):

Shoulder tips

Sternum

Shoulder blades

Collar bone

Wrist bone

Ribs

Knees

Dr has re-run my bone profile bloods, should get results this morning.

He is refusing at this stage to send me to a rheumatologist. But the pain is horrible and is causing me to worry all the time.

Please help sad

Hi Gem, sorry cant advise on bone pain as mine is more muscular and joints. I have to collect a prescription for vitamin D as i was told mine is below 30. Can i just ask did you have any side effects from taking such a high dose ? The reason i ask is i have known for over a year that i was vitamin D deficent and bought some from supermarket which were 1,000 dosage but found i felt nausea and got indigestion while taking them so stopped.

      Hi Frances,

I do suffer with intigestion, hadn't thought to relate it my vitamin d tablets. The way unlock at it, is that I'm in so much pain from the deficiency itself I'll take any other side effect of the tablets just to get normal again. I was taking omperazole for a while whilst taking the tablets in the first place.

If you find the sickness and intigestion hard to deal with I know by reading on here that the Dr can change the brand of tablet, give you tablets to stop the intigestion and possibly even give you an injection (very rare and mostly for kids but I have found it available privatley).

Sorry I can't be much more help.
