Posterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion (PLIF) Surgery

I'm having surgery on L 4/5 on Monday Nov. 14. I've had pain from my back going down my leg to my knee, all on the right side. I previously had 5 spinal epidurals, PT, acupuncture, and went to a message therapist. The pain never went away. I'm tired of being on pain medication. Any one else had this surgery and can give me any advise.

Sorry just realised, iv had this surgery 13 years ago amd I know how it feels when you've tried everything and all you want is to get your life back, unfortunately for me I didn't get the results I was expecting and I'm still suffering now. Just make sure you get the best aftercare from your surgeon, gp, family and friends, take care of yourself and try not and rush things, I wish you all the best with your recovery, let us know how you get on??

Have you tried chiropractic treatments or bowens therapy, I would turn the clock back given the chance but so many things went wrong with mine and that's not to say it will with yours but I would advise you both to try everything first and make sure you check your surgeon, however mine was very capable and I went private, I wish you all the very best and hope it works for you both, iv been there and when your in pain daily you will try anything so I get it, good luck guys xx

I havn't had bowens therapy yet,but it has been suggested to me.There is a holistic therapist that specialises in it near home and is a registered chiropractor. The pain consultant is new school and very open minded to alternative therapies which is a good thing. It's non invasive and i am prepared to try anything that may help Caroline.

Hi Alice.I had a TLIF of L4, L5 & S1 11 months ago, I was very scared & it was a long road to recovery.I was off work for 6 months, couldn't drive for nearly 5 months but now I am feeling so much better. My surgeon has signed me off now for the 1st time in 25 years of going to the hospital. I have no pain down my legs anymore & i can now say that I'm glad I had it done. I wish you all the best for Monday & hope you have the success I've had. Remember not to rush things, it will take timeso don't expect too much too soon. Take care x
