Posterior Repair

hello everyone,
I had rectocele (posterior repair) done a week ago yesterday. It's a little shocking how little information is out there. I went into the surgery totally blind and still feel blind with recovery.
So the repair itself has not been an issue. Seems to be healing very nicely. But i believe I've started my first period since the repair and everything hurts a little more than its been. Is there anyone out there still having cycles who can give me insight on this?
The repair ended up being a little more involved than anticipated and has to repair all the way up to my cervix. My prolapse always felt more pronounced during my cycles too. So my brain is saying my bodies adjusting to the repair.
I'm just constantly terrified of breaking the repair somehow and having to redo or back to the beginning.

DONT despair. The healing process takes much longer than you are told and longer than any web information says. I had my repair a year ago and it was very close to
a year before i felt normal again. I dont have cycles anymore but i would assume your symptoms will be more pronounced for a while until your body heals from the surgery.
Just follow orders and dont lift heavy objects. That is the one thing that could interfere with your recovery. GOOD LUCK!
Try not to get depressed.

thank you sooo much!!! I am starting to see that the recovery is a long adventure. You have been very helpful! Everyday this week has presented a new weird set back. Probably my bodies way of telling me to not get too excited.

I am here to tell you your body will scream during your period for some time. Mine has been significantly worse after my repairs. I guess it just makes everything angry! Like everyone says, a lot of doctors try to pass this stuff off as much less painful than it is and inexplicably don't want to admit it's a long healing process. I'd like to see more doctors with personal experience with these surgeries, so maybe they wouldn't be so dismissive. Anyhow, I'm 7 months out and still have extra menstrual pain. Not quite as bad as it was the first few times, but not nice.

See my doctors like oh well I didn't do anything there so it won't change. I felt everything a lot lower when my cycles were coming too. Awesome! Because my cycles were no peach before.

Mine have always been bad, too. It's pretty normal for things to be lower on your cycle, but it may be a lot more noticeable because of the sensitivity caused by the surgery. I'm not sure what your overall health status is, but I actually found out after my surgery, from an education slide of a teacher in the field, that people with some health problems will have worse side effects. Things like migraine headaches, fibromyalgia and other issues that impact your nervous system can make recovery more difficult. I'm curious if things will always feel worse, or not. I've just started physical therapy, so I hope she helps at least some.
