Postive test result, is this why I'm dizzy? What does it mean? I'm terrified!

I've been undergoing all sorts of testing since January 13 to find out why I am so dizzy/lightheaded. GP has sent me to three specialists at the same time, a Nero-otologist, cardiologist, and a Gastrow intestinal doctor as he was not sure where the dizziness was coming from. With Nero I have a VNG and ECOG test next Wednesday the 8th and I have an endoscopy scheduled with Gastro on the 17th... But yesterday with the cardiologist I had a tilt table test... And I tested positive! I am terrified! My follow-up appointment with cardiology isn't until the 15th, after the test at the hospital they told me I was positive because my blood pressure and my heart rate dropped dramatically when they gave me nitroglycerin at 70° tilt... I Did not pass out... I have never passed out... but I've never felt so ill in my life I thought I would die! I see posted all over here that people have been through cardiology testing to rule out that as a cause, so has anyone of you failed the tilt table test or gotten a positive result from it? I did fine the first part of the test where they do it without any medicine ... was not dizzy or lightheaded at all... But the second part of the test where they give you the nitroglycerin certainly had a very bad effect on me... Now I do not know if I should keep my appointment the 8th with the Nuero... But my ears are still ringing and full so I still feel that is where my dizziness is coming from... But with this positive test on the tilt table I am just terrified...

Have a look,at POTs oinline, the tilt table test is indicated in that condition. But it,doesn,t necessarily mean you have got POTs.  I,would take advantage of te fact you have a good Dr, willing to send you for all the tests with the different consultants. A lot of us have to fight for that! definitly keep, your appoint on 8th with Neuro, the more investigating you can get the better!  You should also ask the Neuro Dr about the difference in the tilt table, test with drugs and not drugs and ask why the difference s it could be the drug that caused it. Write down all your questions and take them with you and use your appointment well. God luck

Thank you Gillian and Paula for your thoughts, words, and wisdoms smile . I called my cardiologist's nurse and she also advised me to keep the Neuro appt and said the positive tilt test does not mean a heart problem unless also confirmed by ecg, holter, or echo (only echo left to do on Tues and results to all the 15th) and she said if the Doc sees a problem he will call and not wait til my appt the 15th to tell me. She said a positive tilt can mean a nerve issue if all other heart tests normal and mentioned the vagus nerve... so i'll keep that appt the 8th too. Has taken me two days to recover from that tilt test. I am so sick of tests, but guess i'm lucky to be having them... I got the run around and false diagnosis' without tests to prove anything and meds that made me more sick from 2 GPs before having a complete meltdown in the office of the last when he finally said he doesn't know and it's over his head so he referred me to the 3 specialists. I told them all going in let's get this done quickly cuz i'm taking no more of their meds to treat a condition until i have a positive diagnosis from a test that proves i actually have that condition! Done being a lab rat! And won't see GP again til this is resolved by a specialist and i'm just needing routine care... all they really are set up to do anyway... Knowing what's wrong and THEN treating it will be a far sight better... this not knowing is the worst! I wish a treatable diagnosis for us all!!!

Hi Jodie, Im quite jealous really, Ive only had blood test and MRI scan oh and epley maneovre and hearing test.  Nothing else.  Been dizzy now 2 and a half years.  Two neuros looked at me and decided I had silent migraine.  I dont think I do and am sick of all the meds they try to shove down me, epilepsy drugs and beta blockers and theyve all made no difference whatsoever except make me feel depressed.  So now on nothing and flying without a parachute. I dont know whats wrong with me, but full ears come and go, very sensitive to lights of all kinds and sounds. Walking was difficult but thats got much better.Occasionally have creaky cracky jaw and neck and tingling in cheek bone and over the top of my head plus the dizziness but Im getting a bit better with that - had a good day today and yesterday, but it could all change.  I would love a real diagnosis so I know what Im dealing with. Im now wondering if Ive got vestibular neuritis;  Trying to get an appointment with the dizzy clinic now.  I want a table test to see what happens. In all this Im still having hot flushes , its been nine years now.  So between the two of them lifes very trickyUnless its the dizziness making me too hot.

Its funny you should say that, my neurologist told me my silent migraine was due to my age and told me he had new patients every week with the same, all women of my age.  So I guess he meant the menopause. Ive given up with my beta blockers and am seeing GP on friday so thinking of asking for something for the hot flushes.  When this first started two and a half years ago, it was when I had stopped taking HRT so I keep asking if I can go back on it to see if the dizziness stops.  But they say no, as its too dangerous for my age.  Being dizzy and boiling hot is too dangerous I say !!  How are you ?
