Postnatal depression and sertraline

hi looking for some advice really. I have been given sertraline 50mg to treat my postnatal depression but I have read about the side effects and am scared to take them as I have a newborn to look after. Should I try herbal remedies first or would you say they are safe to take? I am really anxious and nervous about taking them but feel I need something to help me.

Hi Charmaine.. I started taking 50mg sertraline a week ago today... My worst day was Wednesday, with sickness and bad headaches... I switched to taking it from mud morning with no food to seven on the evening after eating my tea and feel much better for it.. I still have some side affects but ni where near as bad. I've heard its a good AD to be on I you can get through the first few weeks... My sleep is much better now taking it at this time... Good luck and hope you feel better soon..

Hi, sorry your suffering at the moment, especially with a new born. I was very nervous about taking sertraline and it took me 3 weeks to pluck the courage up, but 10 weeks on and I am so glad I did. I took mine just as I was getting in bed at night so I slept through the harsh side effects. I did suffer some start up side effects but they went within 7-10 days. It is hard at first as u feel like they r not working and want to stop taking them but I carried on with them and glad I did. Good luck and don't be scared x

    Hi

Sertraline is a good option and relatively safe. You can try 25 mg for few days and when you increase it,take it in devided dosage.Try relaxation therapy also.
