Pounding heart but heart rate 67bpm

Hi ladies

I've got a pounding feeling in my chest but my heart rate is 67bpm. I'm on a low dose beta blocker so it has slowed it down a bit but is pounding at times. As some of you may know I'm on HRT. Any suggestions as to what it may be? The utrogestan or estrogen perhaps?

Hi Michelle, actually it is the fluctuation of estrogen and progesterone that causes the heart palps. Things that increase it are caffeine, chocolate, alcohol, nicotine, dehyration and stress. I can't find any medical evidence to suggest that it's either estrogen or progesterone causing the pounding but that it's very common in women going through perimenopause with a decrease once into menopause. I took something called St. John's wort for the heart palps which acutally stopped it and stopped the anxiety.  Not sure how it would work since you're taking HRT and a beta blocker.  But thought I'd put it out there in case you want to try it. xx

Not recomended to take beta blockers with St Johns wort. Best ask your GP   as many natural remedies can interact with prescription drugs.
