I personally never had any side effects, but then again, I usually still take 150 mg of rinatadine a day as maintenance so my acid reflux doesn't cause me neck stiffness issues. Just wanted to get off PPI'S so I don't have to go to a gastro in 5 years.

Well if I try to come off my PPI my reflux comes back. Let’s see, take the PPI and lead a normal life, or suffer loads of pain. The PPI wins.

Remember that that acid damage you can’t see until it’s too late.

Rinatadine is essentially the same as Zantac.

It can treat and prevent heartburn. it can also treat stomach ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and conditions that cause too much stomach acid. I'm not a Dr. Obviously but it's essentially prescribed as maintenance medication and the long term effects aren't as strenuous as PPI'S... Obviously like I said, this has just been what works for me. Check with your Doctor as they will be the ones who can give you the what advice on what to do.

Hyper acid rebound...when you stop a PPI, your stomach tries to compensate for the acid suppression that is caused by the ppi.  In other words, acid reflux that’s worse than before you went on the ppi.  You have to slowly taper off and use rinatidine to help.  Can take a long time to taper off.
