Dear Martha

Diagnosed with a hiatus hernia in jan this year and gastritis.which I have recovered from. But I’m still suffering from GERD  due to the hernia .At first omeprazole worked with ranatidine ,Then all the symptoms came back. Then I was given Nexium with ranatidine and gaviscon. But having the heartburn again,I really want to come off all the PPIs as I’m getting lots of side effects now diarrhoea nervousness tiredness. But if I do I will be in agony.reading all the forums saying that probiotics could be helpful I am going to try them.Bought some today.Im worried about having surgery as it is not guaranteed to be a success.this is in the U.K. and the nhs here are not to keen to dish out the ops.anyway..All this affects your social life too, like eating out and invitations to friends,as there is not much on offer food wise. You tend to become a boor.!! Good luck with your op. Let me know how is goes.Franbrew
