Hi Chris, Wow, taking both a statin and Amlodipine can cause in some folks awful side effects.  After almost 13 years on Amlodipine, I asked my doctor to switch my blood pressure med because of the gastrointestinal problems I believe were caused by  Amlodipine. Once I stopped, my problems have subsided.  I've been off about 1 month and feel so much better. Now about statins, I've had severe joint pain in my left shoulder and legs in the past. I love to swim so I am so afraid to start statins again even though my cardiologist wants me to start. I'm considering some natural method one of which is garlic.  I have lowered my cholesterol once eating very little protein and mostly veggie and beans.  I love protein so it's been very hard this time around.  I definitely prefer that over taking statins. It's such a rock between a hard place because I'm nervous about heart problems and quality of life.  I posted about my cardiologist wanting me to take statins again and all responses were no because of the awful side effects. Some expressed that their conditions were debilitating.   ...hope this helps and you find your pathway to better health.

Yes, Chris. I too am so happy I found this site and that I am not alone. I'm also thankful I found a Primary Care Physician who considers me the main player on the team and believes me when I say a med is making me worst than I was before I started taking it. I'm hoping for the very best health to you!

    Hi Chris,

?I have similar story. Taking Pravastatin and Amlodipine for several years. 8 month ago developed pain in lower back but only when I am sleeping and in the mornings. At night when try to change positions-severe cramps. I have pin pointed my pain and it is the muscle called "psoas" on the right side. Today I came across information about side effects and I stumble across your post. Can you update on your findings? I red 2 scenarios about having pain in horizontal position: 1- muscle is short during a day when you sit a lot and at night when you stretch is painful. 2- there is not enough blood flow to the muscle (do not know why).

?Please let me know if you have any similar condition. Thank you.
