Pre employment work medical

Hi all

I'm 33 and have applied for a new job position which will involve a medical. I have recently been diagnosed with ra and am currently taking methotrexate. The methotrexate seems to be working and I have no side effects thankfully.

My question is if anyone knows if it's possible I could fail my medical due to ra.thanks in advance

I think it would depend what the job was - if it involves heavy lifting/working outdoors etc then there might be more issues than if its office based, for example, where there are lots of possible support options.

What job have you applied for?

      I'm a welder. Think I may need a career change 😔

They may ask for information from your GP or consultant but if you are in remission it would be unfair not to give you the job.

As Jo says, it depends on what you are applying for.

I had to make an appt for a hospital clinic and when the nurse asked me all the usual questions, she asked why I was on MTX and said she had RA and had been taking MTX for 20 years

    Have you asked them?
