Everyone is nervous before surgery. Its natural. And i hate to say it but age no longer matters in this surgery. Im 20 and 13 weeks post op. Theres a lass whose 18 and is due for her surgery next week i think. but lucky for you, you found this site so your in good hands now haha. Everyone is willing to help in any possible way x

One thing i am getting fed up with dont know if you had the same problem with your age the amount of nurses and other staff saying your very young to be having this operation! As if you was having the op just for. The sake of it

    Dominic,

I too had my pre op on Friday the 15th. I'm having my right THR on Tuesday July 19th. The Doctor scheduled my surgery date before my pre op was scheduled.

    Hi Dominic:

Like all of us you are nervous and anxious, and very understandbly so. I hope it doesn't take too long to get your surgery scheduled. That is exactly what I said, I just want it done. I just had rthr 8 weeks ago and am getting ready to get my lthr next month. I am sure you are looking forward to recovering and being out of pain. If you have any questions people on this forum are very helpful. Wishing you luck with your surgery....Barb

Don't be nervous - you will be fine. I think I had my pre op about 10 days before. There is a certain time limit so you shouldn't have to wait too long.  The operation is amazing, you will feel so much better afterwards. I am 7 weeks post op and went out dancing on Saturday night, I haven't been able to do that for months. The surgeons and nurses are so skilled, don't worry.

    Best wishes, Malloo x

    Hi Dominic,

It seems to be very different depending on which country you are in. I'm in the UK (Scotland) and had my pre-op the same day I was put on the waiting list for surgery, on 04th March this year.

My surgery was on 30th June, almost four months later. I expected having to repeat the tests (esp. MRSA) but I was assured there was no need for that as they were valid for six months!

I really hope you won't have to wait that long and that you get your date very soon. And don't be nervous about it, the operation itself was the easy part razz

The first two weeks post-op are the hardest, after that it gets so much better every day (and nothing is as bad as the waiting before the op had been).

    All the best for you!
