I am currently on pre op diet and doing the exante diet

If you google u can find it - it's just 3 milkshakes a day and lots of water - I'm on day 5 today - day 3-5 is the worse but it gets easier :-)

Most pre op diets are different depending on person & surgeon!

I was only allowed 6 pints of milk a day

    One salty drink a day

And a sachet of sugar free jelly a day and that's it for 2 weeks!

There's no easy ore op diet -

We get a band done as we have a problem with our relationship with food - what ever one we do it isn't going to be easy -

Just have to remember why we are doing it - and that it's only for a couple of weeks and there's a big bright light at the end of the tunnel - were all here for same reason and let's be honest none of us are gonna starve - it may be very difficult to stick to but we can do it :-)

My diet was very prescribed as to how much I could each and what I could eat. 3 meals.....1 slice of toast with scraping of butter, 100g of meat or fish with salad (mostly green) for lunch with 2 crakerbread, 100g of meat or fish with green leafy veg, egg sizes potato or 30g pasta, and 1 tbsp of carrots, or peas, or sweetcorn. 1/3 pint of milk, 2 avg pieces of fruit. Lots of water. Worked out about 600-1000cals a day. Was much easier than I thought...day 4/5/6 tricky.....just bland, no sauces, very boring. You can do it, 2 weeks and weight loss usually good.

Hi. I, too, dreaded the pre-op diet: four weeks in my case.  And I had a trial run to see what worked best for me. In the end I did total meal replacement plus 2 pieces of fruit a day. There is an internet company called Shake That Weight and their products are very low in calorie and considerably less expensive than some of the leading brands. Because of their calorie content I was able to have five or six a day and I alternated shakes and meal bars (thus actually eating something). I would say that days two to four were the hardest. It worked well, I lost 10kg in the four weeks.

    Hope you get on okay.

Hi Fozzy, if by the pre op diet you mean the low calorie liquid diet I have just done it and found it surprisingly easy. I had 3-4 pints of semi skimmed milk each day, two litres of water, and a salty drink. I lost 14kg in 5.5 weeks doing this. The hard part was what I'm doing now, I was put on the refeed diet and I'm on 2 pints of milk a day and 2 meals at 400 calories, this I am really struggling with. I have to maintain or lose more weight to get a surgery date, today I have struggled and am feeling awful about it, I just hope I haven't sabotaged my hopes for surgery as I've had extra calories in the form of fat today.

Good luck with your journey smile
