Pre op feeling stupid!

Posted , 5 users are following.

Just been for pre op, felt nervous so had coffee in hospital cafe.

Blood pressure 210. Forgot to ask for decaf. Not had caffine for ages. Feel so stupid. They tried three times and it kept going up, nerves cut in too. Infact panic! Got to have it check at doctor's surgery but it means I can,t give me a date for my operation. .

Feel so stupid and disappointed with myself.

My blood pressure was sky high when I went to the Drs before my pre op, 'white coat syndrome' in my case. In fact she phoned me on a Sunday to voice her concern. I monitored it at home for two weeks and everything was fine, no tablets or anything. Op went ahead.

Would it be an option to have it checked/monitored at local pharmacy?

Dr was unhappy with my BP once and my friend who worked at pharmacy mentioned that they could do it without an appointment.

BP normal every time I had it checked - I put it down to the stress of the medical profession and giggling to get an appointment.

I went straight to the doctor's surgery to make an appointment. They had a machine in the waiting room so had a go on that. It had gone down from 210 to 190 so maybe caffine wearing off! Waiting for doctor to phone me now isn't helping! lol

So sorry to hear that. I have white coat syndrome but usually chatting with the nurse for a few mins solves the problem. 210 is high and better they don't operate if it could cause problems. Ask your doctor if you can monitor it at home ( if poss)

      Take care
