Hi all

have my pre op tomorrow (operation 18th feb) kind of dreading this appt as last year was given very wrong information which caused alot of anxiety and made me doubt the operation

for example i cant have epidural cause of back injury however nurse was adamant i was going to have epidural so i agree and left feeling upset. Operation day consultant was there when anaesthetist came consultant him i was to have g/a as i couldn't have epidural.anaesthetist had tried to make me have epidural and was getting quite stroppy. Listening skills awful!!

now getting anxious praying there wont be any problems tomorrow!!

    Hi

Make sure that it is on your notes {when you go for your pre op asssessment} tht you cant have an epidural

I have kypho scoliosis {C shaped curve in my spine } and was given a spinal block.....it was great once it worked but they had a lot of problems finding the right place to put it because of my back problems.

I made sure they knew when i went for my 2nd op. what had happened the first time. They said we have studied x rays of your back and we know this time.

    This one went well.

Did you have G.A.? I find most of them dont want you to have that because you are more groggy and it takes longer to get you up and longer to get the anaesthetic out of your system.....most of them seem to think that an epidural or spinal block is best

    Good luck

If not then you can have injection where you are put to sleep only thing I was told was recovery a bit slower. I had spinal injection (this is not epidural) it is just one injection bottom off spine but you are awake but feel nothing or I could have injection were you put to sleep

I can't imagine the docs fighting over the anaesthesia. You have the right to iINSIST on a procedure that is safe and acceptable to you. Here in US if a doc gives anaesthesia against your wishes it is called assault & battery!

    best wishes & blessings
